What do I need to do to get my faucet certified using two A112.18.3-certified check valves? |

ANSI/ASME A112.18.3 has now been accepted by all the model codes in the US, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC), The National Standard Plumbing Code (NSPC) and, most recently, the Universal Plumbing Code (UPC). ASME A112.18.3 (Performance Requirements for Backflow Protection Devices and Systems in Plumbing Fixture Fittings) requires rigorous life testing of the backflow protection in hose-connected outlets like pullout spouts and handheld showers. When the backflow protection devices have already been certified, a faucet manufacturer needs only identify the NEOPERL® check valve part numbers used in the faucet. The faucet will then be subjected to the tests normally required by A112.18.1, including backflow and back siphonage, but not the life test. NEOPERL® offers a variety of check valve products (ranging in size from 10 mm to 15 mm) that have successfully been tested and are in compliance with A112.18.3. These products are listed or are in the process of being listed with both CSA and IAPMO. Check Valves (Part Number)
