Which are the standards and flow classes or flow rates aerators have to comply with in the US and in Europe?

The ASME standard A 112.18.1 "Plumbing Fixture Fittings" sets maximum flow rates for the
faucets and showers used in the United States. Depending on the application and the dynamic
pressure, the following rates are applicable:
ApplicationFlow rate range in gallons/minuteDynamic pressure
Lavatory/Sink faucetmax. 2.2 gpm (8.3 l/min.)60 psi (4.14 bar)
Shower head max. 2.5 gpm (9.5 l/min.) 80 psi (5.52 bar)
Public lavatory faucetmax. 0.5 gpm (1.9 l/min.)60 psi (4.14 bar)

The European Standard EN 246 "Sanitary tapware - General specifications for flow rate regulators"
defines the following flow classes at a dynamic pressure of 3 bar:
Flow classFlow rate range l/min.
Z7.5 - 9.0 l/min.
A13.5 - 15.0 l/min.
S18.0 - 19.8 l/min.
B22.8 - 25.2 l/min.
C27.0 - 30.0 l/min.
D34.8 - 37.8 l/min.
