Situation "Winter"
The supplied water is very cold. The stabilizer valve with the D type regulator has to be adjusted to a low flow rate enabling the appliance to heat the water faster (assuming the electric power of the instantaneous water heater is kept constant).

Situation "Summer"
The supplied water is already quite warm, it does not need to be heated very much. The D type regulator can therefore be adjusted giving a constant high flow rate self-compensating for changes in system pressure.
